Our Story

In 2020, two girls decided to do something about the poor state of animal welfare in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan.

The wheels were set in motion when we saw the heartbreaking story of a woman that fed and cared for the street dogs in her area, the creatures she had been caring for for years were murdered. Shockingly, we found out that they were killed as part of the government’s stray animal culling policy which happened regularly across Pakistan.

We decided to join many other animal rights activists across Pakistan who ventured on this difficult but rewarding journey to make this country a safer place for the voiceless citizens of this country, it’s animals. And that’s how United Rescue Volunteers came into being, a group made up of volunteers, and regular citizens, trying to do everything in our capacity to help.

Over the past years, our team has grown and gained some amazing individuals that allow United Rescue Volunteers to function. Our main focus is to save animals who need urgent medical help by transporting and getting them treatment from local vets in Rawalpindi or Islamabad. We have been able to rescue and rehabilitate over 150 dogs and cats and give them a new lease on life.
