About Us

Founded in 2020, United Rescue Volunteers is a volunteer-run rescue group in Pakistan, based in the twin cities-Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

We rescued Peanut here from a gutter, on the brink of death. Keep scrolling to see her now!

We focus on rescuing and rehabilitating neglected stray animals within these cities. Many street animals are on the brink of death either due to poor quality of life and malnutrition or because of attacks and violence perpetrated by the local population.

Pakistan’s society is highly misinformed about dogs, with even children being violent towards them. This is why we advocate and re-educate the public about misconceptions about street animals, especially dogs.

We have led and participated in many protests against dog culling, and animal experimentation at veterinary schools in recent times. United Rescue Volunteers is completely based on community donations and fundraising but we try to get all our rescues sterilized before releasing them to control the stray animal population humanely and ethically.

Our volunteer team works day and night responding to calls for help, coordinating with shelters across Pakistan for serious cases, and searching for adopters, and foster homes for our rescues.

Mission statement

United Rescue Volunteers aims to help those who cannot speak for themselves, one of the most abused citizens of Pakistan, our street animals. Cruelty to animals especially dogs and donkeys are widespread in the country. We do our most to rescue, rehabilitate and advocate for these abused and neglected beings.

But beyond that, our goal is to change the public mindset towards these animals, to encourage compassion and empathy to replace the deeply embedded violence and hatred. We especially encourage children and teens to participate with United Rescue, so the next generation will be more sympathetic and kind.

Violence against animals has long been known as a marker of deep psychological disturbance or further develops into violence against humans. To reduce this is not only important to protect strays but for the betterment of society as a whole.

Look at Peanut now! She’s safe and happy with her forever family
